The Health Care Service Corp. (HCSC) announced a collaboration with MATTER, a Chicago health technology incubator, on July 30.
HCSC is the first insurance company to join MATTER as a platinum-level partner. As a partner, the corporation will provide on-site mentoring and will participate in discussions where they will be able to engage with entrepreneurs and other start-ups.
"In today's fast-paced digital age, we are always considering ways to develop products and solutions to help drive improved health outcomes and better quality of care across the entire health value chain," Steve Betts, chief information officer at HCSC, said. "This partnership will provide us access to new technologies and entrepreneurs on the cutting edge of health care innovation that can help us guide how we interact with customers at all stages of health."
MATTER consists of entrepreneurs operating in the health care field and its facilities provide a space for physicians, researchers, academic personnel and industry representatives to connect and promote future collaborations.
"Hundreds of entrepreneurs, academics, physicians and industry executives come together every day at MATTER to build solutions to health care challenges," MATTER CEO Steven Collens said. "We are honored to partner with HCSC. Together, we have a unique opportunity to improve health insurance products available to millions of people around the country."
