Senior Lifestyle Corp. broke ground Tuesday for one of its newest planned communities, The Sheridan at Green Oaks.

The 212,326 square foot retirement community will sit on approximately 14.5 acres of land at 29330 N. Waukegan Road, at the corner of Atkinson Avenue and Waukegan Road.

Green Oak's Mayor Bernard Wysocki was joined by city officials, community leaders and other dignitaries including Green Oaks Village Trustee Bryan Muskat and Lamb's Farm CEO Dianne Yaconetti at the official ground-breaking ceremony.

The Sheridan at Green Oaks is scheduled to open in early 2017 and will feature 78 independent-living and 64 assisted-living apartment homes, as well as 64 memory care residences developed specifically to support those with Alzheimer's, dementia and other memory-impairing illnesses.

"What makes the Sheridan Collection so special is that it offers the latest from a care, design and amenity perspective while incorporating a warm and nurturing environment – all while backed with the expertise in operations from a veteran in senior living," Senior Living Executive Vice President of Development Matthew Phillips said. "We have worked to bring this concept to market for three and a half years and are excited to bring residents and potential residents offerings tailored for this community."
