Michael Sharp will become the new chief financial officer for AAR Corp. and replace John Fortson, who is leaving the company, effective Oct. 5.
"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Sharp as our new CFO," said David Storch, board chairman, president and CEO of AAR Corp. "Mike is an accomplished executive with significant financial, accounting and operational experience and a proven track record with the company. I am confident in Mike's ability to contribute in his new capacity to the successful execution of the company's business plan."
He added that Sharp, 53, is a 19-year veteran of the company and currently serves as its vice president, controller and chief accounting officer. He also served as interim CFO for AAR Corp. from Oct. 2012 to July 2013. And prior to joining the company, Sharp worked in management positions with Kraft Foods and KPMG LLP.
In a statement, Fortson said he was grateful for the time he spent with the company.
"I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work as a part of the AAR senior management team and am confident that the company's strategy and focus on best-in-class execution will lead to lasting shareholder value creation," he said.
