Assets previously owned by Ford Werke GmbH, which is closing, have been purchased recently by Hilco Industrial Acquisitions.
Through a private treaty sale, Hilco Industrial Acquisitions has begun selling the assets and will continue to do so until November. Hilco Industrial directors have indicated that there has been substantial interest in the machinery and equipment at the facility from buyers from Asia, Europe, and North and South America.
Following the private treaty sale, Hilco Industrial Acquisitions will also sell the assets through a public auction on Nov. 10. The Ford Genk Body & Assembly facility occupied 140 acres and had produced approximately 14 million vehicles during 50 years in operation. Ford Motor Co. announced in late 2013 that they would shut down the factory.
Some of the equipment offered for sale includes four transfer presses by Schuler, 11 tandem press lines, blanking lines and a wheel plant.
