AT&T has pledged $500,000 to the Urban Alliance Foundation Inc. to provide Urban Alliance services to an additional 127 students.
This will include 74 new job sites for high school internships within Urban Alliance's existing cities in Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The alliance is also seeking 10 companies willing to provide internships or cover a portion of the $6,250 cost. Interns would work from November 2015 through August 2016, and program donations are considered a charitable contribution.
Urban Alliance is a nonprofit organization that connects Chicago’s under-served youth with opportunities with area employers. Each year, the organization serves more than 1,000 youth.
Eventually, Urban Alliance officials hope to expand services to even more students in Baltimore, Chicago, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. For more information, visit www.theurbanalliance.org.
