Generic pharmaceutical company Akorn Inc. has named Duane A. Portwood as its new executive vice president and chief financial officer, an appointment that will take effect Oct. 30.
Portwood comes to Akorn from The Home Depot Inc., where he worked since 2006 as vice president and corporate controller. In that capacity, he oversaw the company's accounting and financial reporting functions, financial operations and internal controls.
Portwood has also worked for the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He eaned a masters of business with honors degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Montana. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
"Duane is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of extensive accounting and finance experience, and we are fortunate to have him join our team," Akorn CEO Raj Rai said. "I look forward to Duane's leadership and contributions as we move forward to the next phase of the growth in our business."
Portwood also expressed excitement for his new role.
