O2 invests in National Technologies

Michigan investment firm to help Chicago fiber optics company continue growing.

O2 Investment Partners recently made a sizable investment in National Technologies, Inc. (NTI), a West Chicago, Illinois-based specialized fiber optic technical services provider.

Although specific dollar amounts were not revealed, as part of the deal, O2 staff will team up with NTI founder and chief executive officer Brian James and his management team to continue NTI's growth.

Launched in 2009, NTI operates an additional office in Washington, DC. The company specializes in fiber optic splicing, testing, connectivity and data center buildout, serving several of the world's highest volume users of data transmission and storage.

"I wanted to find a partner who would support my vision for this business and help me bring it to a national level, with a national footprint," James said. "The goal is to be able to service our customers 24/7 anywhere in the country. O2 understood this from day one and began working with me to put steps in place to accomplish this, even before we closed the deal."

Luke Plumpton, vice president of O2 Investment Partners, agreed.

"We have great confidence in Brian James and his team, and we're looking forward to supporting his vision and bringing NTI's capabilities to every major fiber optic market in the country," he said.

O2 Investment Partners is a private equity firm headquartered in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The company's focus is on lower middle market manufacturing, niche distribution, and select service and technology businesses.
