ExceleRate Illinois recently honored the YMCA Children's Center in Freeport with its Gold Circle of Quality designation for the YMCA's efforts to make the experience positive for the children they serve.
"Every early learning and development provider who participates in ExceleRate Illinois makes quality a priority," Governor's Office of Early Childhood Development Executive Director Theresa Hawley said. "The higher the designation, the higher the program's demonstrated quality and comprehensiveness in meeting children's early learning needs."
ExceleRate Illinois is a recently launched quality rating and improvement initiative for early learning and development providers in Illinois. It is overseen by the Illinois Network of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies under the direction of the Governor's Office of Early Childhood Development, the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Illinois State Board of Education.
"We are proud to receive the Gold Circle of Quality," said Stephanie Diehl of the YMCA Children's Center. "Providing quality in early learning and development will help our children in Freeport be better prepared for success in school and in life."
ExceleRate Illinois evaluates the state's licensed child care centers, Preschool for All and Center-Based Prevention Initiative programs and Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
