The Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce was recently recognized by national veteran hiring initiative Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) for its commitment to getting veterans into jobs in the Aurora area.
For its efforts, the chamber received the HOH's 3-Star Chamber of Valor award.
HOH is a program backed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Chamber of Valor award recipients are chosen from applications submitted to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation; awards are given at 1-, 2- and 3-star levels.
“The Aurora regional chamber is honored to receive the highest recognition from the U.S. chamber for our veteran programs,” Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Joseph Henning said. “Our members are proud to support the efforts of Hiring Our Heroes through employment and education initiatives for veterans and their families.”
HOH also helps place veterans' and military spouses in jobs.
“We would never be able to do the work we do without the tremendous support of local chambers and the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce is setting a standard for other chambers to follow,” Hiring Our Heroes Executive Director Eric Eversole, who also is vice president at the U.S. chamber, said. “The Aurora regional chamber has been instrumental in educating and influencing employers about the great value veterans and military spouses bring to the workforce.”
