Nearly 300 representatives from Chicago-area businesses attended the recent debut of the Chicagoland Business Leadership Networks' two-day Disability Inclusion Opportunity Summit in Chicago.
The Chicagoland Business Leadership Network (CBLN) is an arm of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and is supported by the U.S. Business Leadership Network.
“The CBLN is poised to become the premier convener and connector, addressing the business issues and presenting the business case for disability inclusion” Chicagoland Chamber Foundation Executive Director Ann Kisting said. “We enjoyed an overwhelming response for a first-year event. This demonstrates the importance of disability inclusion to hiring managers and front-line employees who become the change agents when it comes to addressing the disproportionately high unemployment rate of people with disabilities.”
Attendees heard presentations and participated in break-out sessions that focused on the Americans with Disabilities Act, creating inclusive working environments and tips for hiring.
Event sponsors included Searle Funds at the Chicago Community Trust and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.
