A grand re-opening ceremony for the Kumon Center at the Lincoln Park Community Center is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 12
Kumon's programs were founded in Japan in 1958. The method allows programs to be tailored to the needs of individual children and emphasizes the importance of daily reading and math practice.
In addition to sharpening scholastics skills, the program also helps children build their self-esteem, self-confidence, and ability to stay on task and focus - all of which will help them develop good study habits as they move on to middle school, high school and college.
The Kumon method is offered in 26,000 locations in 48 nations around the world. To date, the program's personnel have assisted more than 4 million students.
The Kumon Center at Lincoln Park Community Center is at 2828 N. Clark St., Units 428 and 430.
