Downtown Elmhurst's Café Amano has been chosen as the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry's A.J. “Toche” Terrones Business of the Year Award winner for 2015.
The winner of the annual award, which honors A.J. “Toche” Terrones, who served as chamber president for nearly a decade until his passing in July 1999, receives a plaque to keep and a traveling trophy. It is based on a business' contributions to the chamber and impact in its field.
Café Amano opened in 2005 when its owners, Marco Conte and Chris DePodesta, joined the chamber.
“Café Amano is a story about how two individuals transformed their unique tastes into a rousingly successful restaurant that in just the past decade has developed into an anchor attraction in downtown Elmhurst,” John Quigley, chamber president and CEO, said.
Café Amano and the chamber's other 2015 award recipients will be honored at the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 97th Annual Awards Gala at the Waterford Banquet & Conference Center at 6 p.m. Jan. 29.
Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is located at 242 North York St., Elmhurst.
