Naperville's Charles Vincent George Design Group recently received a 2015 Illinois Honor Award for Distinguished Building under $3 Million from the American Institute of Architects Illinois.
"The space represented our tenacity, our resourcefulness and our collaboration, and to me, it represented the opportunity to create an inspiring space that acknowledged and supported the talent and hard work of our team," owner and President Bruce George said. "It also was the chance to show our clients an exciting environment that made a bold statement about the use of space and a variety of materials."
The company moved into the space, designed by its own architects, in 2013 to mark its 50 years in operation.
Constructed largely of steel and glass, the office features an entry hall made of reclaimed hardwood, raw steel beams and accent walls as well as butterfly ceiling panels, sliding shelves, rolling steel doors and bold color schemes.
"Because we serve both commercial and residential clients, we incorporated materials from both in our design," George said. "That the AIA is recognizing it with this honor affirms our convictions about what makes commercial design work."
