Those waiting while loved ones undergo surgery at Pekin Hospital have new surroundings in which to do so.
A new surgical waiting area, a project of Pekin Hospital and Progressive Health Systems, has been completed and opened with an Oct. 28 ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 3,500-square-foot space is on the hospital's second floor.
“Thank you to the many employees, donors and community partners who helped make this project possible,” Pekin Hospital CEO Bob Haley said. “Our new surgical waiting area is five times larger than the previous space, and it includes a wonderful view of the Mineral Springs Park Lagoon. The new space will be a comfortable environment for family members and loved ones who are visiting our surgery patients.”
The $1.1 million project is one of many facility upgrades taking place at the hospital. Also planned is the construction of a new medical office building at the corner of Veterans Drive and Griffin Avenue.
