Kevin Mott, a financial adviser with Edward Jones Investments, has been named as the Evanston Chamber of Commerce's Public Service/Non-Profit Person of the Year.
Mott was honored at the chamber's annual celebration and awards dinner last week.
"Since the award's inception in 2007, we have recognized the contributions of many outstanding individuals, and Kevin is certainly very deserving of this distinction," Evanston Chamber President Michael Corr said.
The Public Service/Non-Profit Award is presented annually to an individual serving in the public or nonprofit sector who demonstrates innovation, commitment and leadership and creating awareness for his organization and its benefit to the community.
"Growing up in my family, volunteering was what you were supposed to do," Mott said.
Mott has served as president of the Evanston Kiwanis Club and of Connections for the Homeless. He has also been a board member of organizations including Evanston Community Foundation, First Night Evanston and Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse.
Mott also has served with the Executive Committee of the Evanston NAACP and the Evanston Commission on Homelessness.
"I am so impressed with people who are dedicated to helping others, and I want to continue to help and encourage them in their commitment," Mott said.
