Royal DSM, a global science-based company with facilities in Elgin and Warrenville, has announced a new multiyear agreement with Corning Incorporated to provide fiber solutions for the telecommunications industry.
"We are pleased to renew our strategic relationship with DSM," Corning Division Vice President for Optical Fiber Marketing and Product Line Management Barry Linchuck said. "The combination of our advantaged optical fiber and an exclusive coating technology provided by DSM solely to Corning will deliver high performance optical fiber with low attenuation and microbending resistance to the telecommunications industry."
Corning's products include damage-resistant glass for smartphones and tablets, optical fiber, wireless technologies, and connectivity solutions for high-speed communications networks, among many others.
"Our business has always been focused on enabling new and innovative products for our customers and the telecommunications industry," DSM Functional Materials President Rob Crowell said. "Developing and enabling intellectual property is a key component of our strategy and we are excited to advance the telecommunications industry with Corning."
