Pekin Hospital is participating in a quality improvement program.
Pekin Hospital said recently it is participating in a quality improvement program set up by the Illinois Hospital Association and the Michigan Health & Hospital Association.
The yearlong program, Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) 2.0, aims to reduce hospital-acquired conditions by 40 percent and preventable readmissions by 20 percent. More than 100 Illinois hospitals are taking part in the program.
"This is an important initiative that will help us to further drive the safe treatment of our patients," Pekin Hospital Director of Quality and Safety Beth Thomas said. "Our participation in this program is part of our larger commitment to providing the best possible patient care."
HEN 2.0 aims to reduce potential in-patient problems such as ventilator-related events, sepsis, pressure ulcers, surgical site infection, blood stream infections related to central line issues, injuries from falls or immobility and adverse drug issues related to opioids and anticoagulants.
