Applications are being accepted for the 5th annual James Tyree Emerging Business Leadership Award, sponsored by the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Mesirow Financial and The PrivateBank.
This year, the award amount has been doubled to $50,000. The award will be presented at the chamber's annual meeting in June to an entrepreneur that is philanthropically supportive of the local community.
“We are thrilled about doubling the award money this year and proud to partner with Mesirow Financial and The PrivateBank to honor Jim Tyree’s legacy and continue to support Chicagoland’s entrepreneurial and startup communities,” Chicagoland Chamber President and CEO Theresa Mintle said.
The open application period for the award, named after the former Mesirow Financial CEO, ends March 21.
“(Winning) the award helped enable us to expand and provide further support to the local businesses, artists and musicians who feature their work at Horse Thief Hollow,” Neil Byers, owner of Horse Thief Hollow and the winner of last year's award, said. “Without the support of the Chicagoland chamber and my community, I would not be in the position I am today.”
