Kickapoo Creek Winery hosting Kick Abuse 5K to benefit Pediatric Resource Center

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and to raise awareness, the Pediatric Resource Center (PRC) in Peoria is hosting its fourth annual 5K Kick Abuse at Kickapoo Creek Winery Trail Run/Walk on April 16 in Edwards.


The Pediatric Resource Center (PRC) in Peoria is hosting its fourth annual 5K Kick Abuse at Kickapoo Creek Winery Trail Run/Walk on April 16 in Edwards.  

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and to raise awareness, the Pediatric Resource Center (PRC) in Peoria is hosting its fourth annual 5K Kick Abuse at Kickapoo Creek Winery Trail Run/Walk on April 16 in Edwards.

All proceeds will help the PRC provide medical exams and case-management services to child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. Last year, the PRC helped more than 440 children.

Registration for the run/walk is $30 per person; student registration is $25. Register online at go.illinois.edu/kickabuse5k or by calling 309-624-9595.

The run/walk takes place on a grassy trail through part of the vineyard at Kickapoo Creek Winery, 6605 N. Smith Road in Edwards.

The PRC also seeks volunteers for the event.

Adult participants of legal drinking age will receive three free wine tastings from Kickapoo Creek Winery after the race. A brunch is also available after the race for $10 per person.
