Two Children's Hospital of Illinois pharmacists receive pediatric specialty certification

Two Children's Hospital of Illinois pharmacists recently received pediatric specialty certification.

Two pharmacists at Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria recently achieved a new advanced certification level designed specifically for pediatric pharmacotherapy.

Pediatric Pharmacy Specialists Aaron Harthan and Amy Francis are now Board-Certified Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Specialists (BCPPS).

This is the first year the certification program has been offered by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. The designation helps ensure safe and effective drug administration to patients and optimal health outcomes for children under age 18.

The certification indicates that the pharmacy specialist has the knowledge and expertise to tailor dosages to children and can accurately manage drug-therapy monitoring that is required for pediatric patients.
