The Northbrook Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently said two new restaurants - Lucky Fish and Granite City Food and Brewery - will be coming to Northbrook this year.
Steven Geffen of Northbrook is opening his second Lucky Fish restaurant on the North Shore, in downtown Northbrook. The restaurant will seat 80 guests and will be designed after the Lucky Fish in Highwood. The menu will feature a fusion of New Orleans and East Coast-style seafood with a Mexican twist, with offerings such as fresh fish, lobster rolls, po’ boys, jambalaya and lobster tacos. An open kitchen and oyster bar in the center of restaurant will allow patrons to watch the chefs whip up their creations. A large patio behind the restaurant will seat another 25 to 30 guests during warm weather. The restaurant is part of the Once Upon family of restaurants including Once Upon a Deli and Once Upon a Grill, both in Northbrook. Geffen hopes to open the restaurant by early June.
Granite City Food and Brewery, featuring an on-site brewery, will take over the space once occupied by Zapatista restaurant in the Willow Festival Shopping Center. It will be the first Granite City on the North Shore, with other Illinois locations in Schaumburg, Naperville, Orland Park, Rockford and East Peoria. The restaurant will showcase the handcrafted micro-brewing process, visible from the dining and bar areas. The menu will feature classic American fare using fresh, quality ingredients. Granite City will seat up to 280 guests once renovations are complete. The restaurant will feature a large bar and main dining area as well as a private dining room and enclosed patio. Granite City is expected to open in late summer or early autumn.
