Progressive Health Systems and the city of Pekin hosted a groundbreaking ceremony recently for the $16 million ProHealth medical office building, a Griffin Avenue and Veterans Drive in Pekin.
The 62,000-square-foot building will house multiple medical providers in fields such as family practice, internal medicine and pediatrics. Lab and X-ray services will also be available at the new facility.
“I think today is a great example of what can happen when public and private sectors work together to support something very special for the whole community,” Pekin Mayor John McCabe said. “It is our hope that this new medical facility will not only advance the medical community but will serve as an anchor for future development, which will benefit this entire region.”
The project is a collaboration between the Pekin and Progressive Health Systems, the parent organization for ProHealth Medical Group. Construction will begin later this spring, with completion targeted for autumn in 2017.
“Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important community project, including our generous donors,” Progressive Health Systems CEO Bob Haley said. “The new facility will expand medical services throughout the region and allow us to recruit additional physicians and medical professionals to Pekin.”
