A congressman and labor secretary recently conducted a conversation on the workforce.
Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez and Rep. Mike Quigley joined members of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and others this week for a discussion over the state of the workforce in both Chicago and Illinois.
The discussion addressed finding ways to strengthen the workforce and was open to business leaders and government officials in attendance.
“A dynamic workforce is a critical component of any strong economy,” Theresa Mintle, president and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber, said. “In our Chamber member survey, 90 percent of our members cited ‘access to talent’ as an aspect of Chicagoland that directly contributes to the success of their business. This workforce roundtable discussion provided an opportunity for local business leaders to share what is needed to ensure Chicago continues to cultivate and retain a steady stream of top talent.”
This issue is a shared interest of the regional business community. The Chamber will work with its partners to help ensure the region and country cultivate a diverse and skilled workforce.
