Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois has named Don Johnson as the organization's new president and CEO.
Johnson will begin his new duties June 1, replacing Patty Fuchs who is retiring after 23 years of service with Goodwill.
Johnson has served in the nonprofit sector for more than 26 years. He spent the past 11 years as vice president of community investments at Heart of Illinois United Way. Before working with United Way, Johnson was executive director of the Hult Center for Healthy Living.
“After a comprehensive search process, the board has found the best person to build upon the accomplishments of current Goodwill President and CEO, Patty Fuchs," Joe Sharpe, Goodwill of Central Illinois board chairman, said. "Don is an excellent leader in our community with a strong passion for helping others. This, combined with his business acumen and the ability to effectively communicate and execute strategic plans, makes Don uniquely qualified to lead Goodwill of Central Illinois successfully into the future.“
