Children’s Hospital of Illinois and T.O.U.C.H -- The Organization for Understanding Congenital Hearts -- invite residents in central Illinois to attend the Dancers With Heart benefit event, “In the Shadow of the Swan, An Epic Fairytale.”

The event takes place at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Five Points Theatre in Washington.

The event showcases cultural diversity, demonstrated through a storytelling and dance extravaganza for the whole family. Dancers from the Mythili Dance Academy, Cornerstone Academy for Performing Arts, and guest performers from local Chinese and Middle Eastern communities will participate.

“Dancers with Heart is such an important event to us, as a congenital heart family," Danielle McNear, a parent of a congenital heart center patient, said. "Not only does it help bring awareness to such a prevalent defect, but it also raises funds that are used on items that impact the care of congenital heart patients from newborns to adults.”

Tickets for the event are $20 for adults, and $10 for children 12 and younger. They can be purchased by calling the OSF HealthCare Foundation at 309-566-5671, or by visiting www.osfhealthcarefoundation.org/dancers. Patients at the Congenital Heart Center attend for free.
