Chicago-based hospital business news source Becker's Hospital Review recently named Peoria’s OSF HealthCare to its list of “100 Accountable Care Organizations to Know” for its high standard of care, management, patient satisfaction and cost savings.
As an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) since 2011, OSF HealthCare has consistently ranked high among similar ACOs. Initially established as a Pioneer ACO, it converted to a CMS Next Generation ACO in 2016, one of the nation’s first.
“We are excited to have received this distinction … because it means we’re making progress in our goal to transform the way health care is delivered in our communities,” Randy Billings, SVP of Managed Care and ACO for OSF HealthCare, said. “Since 2011, we have been able to drive significant improvements … by connecting our full network of health and wellness services to help each person live healthier, fuller lives. We intend to keep this momentum going and extend our ministry where value-based care touches even the most vulnerable patient populations.”
Qualifying ACOs were selected based on criteria including quality and cost performance, participation in CMS' Next Generation Model, the Pioneer Model, advanced tracks of the Medicare Shared Savings Program and whether it has recently acquired new contracts.
Providing analysis for hospital and health system executives, Becker’s Hospital Review has been offering ACO rankings for five years.
