Astellas has named a new senior vice president for its oncology department and promoted another executive within the department.
Steven Benner is the new senior vice president and therapeutic area head for oncology. Anne Keating has been promoted to vice president of clinical science for oncology.
"Astellas couldn't be more pleased to have Steven and Anne help lead us on our journey to becoming a global oncology leader," Astellas president Bernhardt Zeiher said. "They have diverse experience across all areas of development and I know they will provide the strategic oversight to help us continue to address the evolving needs of our patients."
Benner will provide global leadership for Astellas' oncology programs in areas such as prostate cancer, leukemia, lung cancer and breast cancer.
Benner previously held senior leadership positions in clinical development, compliance and licensing at companies such as Cell Therapeutics Inc. and OncoMed Pharmaceuticals.
