Cigna, a provider of employer-sponsored group health plans in Illinois and around the country, is adding new individual and family medical plans in the Chicago area.
The new plans, called Cigna Connect, are available on and off the federal marketplace and take effect Jan. 1.
Cigna Connect's individual and family plans will be offered with a variety of options and price points. The plans will be available during the enrollment period, which starts Nov.1, in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kankakee and Will counties.
Most of the primary-care physicians, hospitals and specialty practices participating in Cigna Connect are also part of the AMITA Health and Presence Health systems.
“The Cigna Connect plan will bring a new, cost-effective option for quality health care to individuals and families in the Chicago area, including those who are participating in the health insurance marketplace for the first time,” Mike Phillips, Cigna's Midwest market president, said.
Both AMITA Health and Presence Health are part of Cigna’s Collaborative Care program, a value-based offering.
“AMITA Health is partnering with Cigna to provide cost-effective access to health care services provided by physicians and medical professionals who are highly focused on quality outcomes and preventive care,” AMITA Health President and CEO Mark Frey said. “With the exodus of payors that are willing to provide value-based benefit plan options to individuals and families who shop the exchange and individual market for coverage, we believe Cigna’s new individual and family plan benefit plan offering will provide significant value to families in the communities served by AMITA Health.”
