Ascent, a provider of data center solutions, has partnered with Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT Inc. to deliver an expansion suite for a tenant in the CH2 Data Center facility in Northlake.
The company added capacity for an extra 2.5 MW of critical power capacity in the 16,000-square-foot facility owned by Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT.
In less than four months after breaking ground for construction, the customer was able to install and power IT equipment in its data center racks. The expansion suite provides the company with dedicated data center space completely independent from the operations of any other businesses within the building.
The new suite features efficiencies such as transmission-grade electric feeds from the onsite 2N substation, LED lighting in the data center, and highly efficient electrical and mechanical equipment.
“Chicago continues to be a major central hub for data centers and our customers require top of the line infrastructure and offerings,” Ascent CEO Phil Horstmann said. “Ascent’s innovative engineering and built-to-suit enterprise-level data center spaces provide significant operational efficiencies and cost benefits to our customers. We look forward to continuing to support our clients at CH2 and other sites around the country to meet their data center needs, and meet them quickly.”
Ascent is also working on production ready racks at the recently opened DAL1, a tornado-hardened data center facility in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
