Alma Dance School has been honored with the Harry Preucil Pro Bono Project of the Year Award from Turnaround Management Association.

Alma Dance School was recognized for outstanding growth and performance as a small company in Illinois. The ballet school, only 3 years old, is devoted to Cuban-Method ballet training.

In its first year, the school created and performed a full-length Nutcracker ballet, complete with costumes and scenery. Nutcracker requires much effort to prepare and perform, so it is rarely chosen by new schools or dance companies. Turnaround Management Association, a group of group of pro-bono small business management companies, noticed the efforts. The growth and quality of work provided by school directors Guillermo Leyva and Vilma Machin has been noticed by the arts community as well.

Alma aims to use the new recognition to further emphasize the high quality student productions and assure them that no other school or studio can offer such an experience.
