Pace is launching Phase 2 of the Interstate 90 Market Expansion Program with six new bus routes, two new buses and improvements to existing bus routes.
Also in the works is a new Park-n-Ride at I-90 and Randall Road.
The new 40-foot express buses offer free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports and comfortable high-back seating. The regular fare will be $1.75, or $2 if paying in cash.
Next year, Pace will add two more Park-n-Rides near I-90 -- one at Illinois 25 and the other at Barrington Road. The Illinois Tollway will also add an I-90 SmartRoad that allows Pace buses to bypass traffic.
These service improvements are planned in conjunction with the rebuilding and widening of the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90). Many partners have made this work possible, such as the Federal Transit Administration, Illinois Tollway, Regional Transportation Authority, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Chicago Transit Authority, Cook County, Kane County, Village of Hoffman Estates and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
