F&M Bank, a local staple in Galesburg and surrounding neighborhoods, placed in the top 1 percent of U.S. banks in rankings by The Institute for Extraordinary Banking.
F&M was awarded the Institute Banky Award for its work in the community and dedication to smart, local banking. The award was created to highlight the necessary role of community banks in the economy.
The voting process is led by a panel of judges, consisting of banking experts, who determine the winner by a strict criterion — internal culture, customer service, financial literacy, banking practices and philanthropy. The recognition is highly coveted by community banks around the country and only given to the top 60 out of 6,000 evaluated for the honor.
”We are honored to be presented with this award and be ranked among the top community banks in the country. We are proud of the active role we play in making a positive impact in the communities we serve,” F&M Bank President and CEO Doug Sanders said in a company news release. “Not only do we support our area with loans and donations, our employees volunteer more than 5,000 hours of their time every year to schools, churches, civic clubs and economic development. We work hard to surpass client expectations each day.”
