Illinois Central College is debuting two new art exhibits today on its East Peoria campus.
American Renegade is an installation by Samantha Parker-Salazar — an alumna of Bradley University. The exhibit is based on the life of one of Parker-Salazar’s ancestors, Cynthia Ann Parker. It is a story of resistance and prevalence of a native woman in Waco, Texas.
The installation will be located in Galley 336B in the Academic Building of ICC.
A photography gallery, created by Britten Traughber, will also be on display. The exhibit opens in the ICC Performing Arts Center Gallery in the main lobby of the facility.
According to the school’s website, hours of operation for Gallery 336B are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to noon. The Performing Arts Center Gallery is open Monday through Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday 9:30 a.m. to noon.
The exhibits are presented by the ICC Art Program and the Arts at ICC. Arts at ICC houses and displays more than 500 exhibits, performances, lectures, classes, rehearsals and much more each year.
