The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is undergoing development for its Long-Range Transportation Plan.
The department is asking for public input on the project. The plan will identify policies to supply Illinois residents with transportation solutions. The goal is to support local business and economic growth with innovative and sustainable transportation.
"We really want this plan to drive how we operate as an agency and how we are making investment decisions," Illinois Transportation Secretary Randy Blankenhorn said in a news release. "By working together with members of the public and our industry partners, we are confident we can develop a solid vision for how we are going to invest in transportation in Illinois over the next 10 to 20 years."
Last year, IDOT received over 700 survey responses for the plan. The responses varied in concerns, mainly about safety and economic growth for the state. To better the plan’s strategies, IDOT is engaging in another round of surveys.
