Illinois Central College Culinary Institute will be hosting a celebration of African cuisine and culture with a dinner program, “Taste of Africa,” at 5:30 p.m. March 2 at the Culinary Institute on ICC’s North Campus in Peoria.
The dinner, which is also sponsored by the Peoria Area World Affairs Council and the ICC International Education Program, will feature a three-course meal made by the staff and students of the Culinary Institute, a release posted on the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce website said.
Experts will be preparing the meals throughout the evening, which will allow partygoers to learn cooking techniques and detailed descriptions on the cuisine. Two Fulbright scholars will be honored at the gathering –Letshwiti Tutwane from Botswana and Nahed Shata from Egypt, the release said. Tours of the culinary school facilities will also be available.
The menu will include meat and vegetarian options.
