The YWCA is looking for women to nominate for its 36th Annual Women’s Recognition Day. The honor is bestowed on women in the Pekin area who display leadership and achievements in their personal and professional lives.
The luncheon will take place on May 4 at 11:30 a.m. at the Pekin Country Club. The event will begin with a brief social with the luncheon program starting immediately afterwards.
Nominations are being accepted until April 19. Women who have made outstanding contributions to their families, communities and careers are being accepted as viable candidates. To qualify, nominees must reside or be employed in Tazewell County and meet the criteria for the following categories—outstanding employee or contributions to the arts, business, sports or community service.
The YWCA Pekin’s board of directors will select the Mission Award recipient. This individual must be dedicated to the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism, promoting peace and empowering women. The Tazewell County schools will also have an opportunity to award an outstanding female student during the event.
