In late May, Ginger Downs of the Chicago Association of Realtors learned that she would receive one of the industry’s highest honors—the 2017 National Association of Realtors William R. Magel Award of Excellence.
The presentation of the award, the highest one for an association executive, will take place at the Realtors Conference and Expo in Chicago this November. Downs came to the Windy City in 2005 via Seattle, where she previously served as an association executive. Since joining the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR), she has proven an enthusiastic participant in local activities.
“In addition to her mentorship and leadership in the industry, she has been incredibly active in the Chicago community,” CAR officials stated, extending congratulations on the accomplishment. Downs serves as president of All Chicago, an organization addressing homelessness, and works with the Goldie Initiative, which supports women in commercial real estate endeavors.
Additionally, Downs sits on several professional boards, including for the John Marshall Law School Real Estate Advisory Board, Roosevelt University’s Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate Advisory Board, DePaul University Real Estate Advisory Board and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She is also a Golden R RPAC Investor.
The Magel Award is presented yearly to an individual demonstrating excellence as an association executive of a Realtor association. Downs, whose certifications include RCE, CAE, CIPS and IOM, learned of her selection to receive the distinction at a mid-year legislative meeting and trade exposition held in Washington, D.C., last month.
