Eighty-nine employees of UnityPoint Health-Pekin and more than 130 volunteers were recently recognized for dedication to their work and the community at the facility's 58th Annual Employee Awards Banquet and the 2017 Volunteer Luncheon. The 107-bed medical center has been providing health care in Central Illinois since 1913.
"Our dedicated employees and volunteers help us to serve the community and provide personal, compassionate care each day," hospital Human Resources VP Crystal Elliott said. "We cannot thank them enough for their ongoing commitment to our mission of service."
The employees recognized had 1,115 combined years of service, while the volunteers had 20,256 combined hours spanning across the areas of courier services, pharmacy, radiology, surgical waiting, and lobby and information desk services.
Special recognition was given to Dr. John Lovell, who is retiring after treating patients and serving the community for almost 40 years.
"We also wish Dr. Lovell the very best of luck with his retirement," Elliot said. "He has been a pillar in our medical community."
