Nonprofit management conference hosted by North Park University
Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management, North Park University, played the role of host at the "Focus on the Important" conference, which welcomed almost 130 attendees.
The keynote speaker was Jacob Harold, President and CEO of GuideStar, whose lecture "Data Scaffolding for Philanthropy – Information and the Marketplace for Good" gave the audience a fresh perspective not only on how to collect date but also how to put it to use.
Lisa Brown Alexander, President and CEO of Nonprofit HR, shared her insight on how to retain employee involvement in the workplace.
An afternoon panel titled "Do Funders Have a Secret Sauce?" was run by James Parsons, President of The Brinson Foundation, and was composed of discussions from Sandra Aponte, Donald A. Cooke and Robin Steans, who spoke on various aspects of fundraising, including grants, collaboration and sustainability.
Finally, the "Ask a Funder" session wrapped up the day and allowed individuals to connect with The Brinson Foundation, The Chicago Community Trust, Chicago Foundation for Women, Community Memorial Foundation, JPMorgan Chase, Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation and Springboard Foundation.
