Small business owners may do well to embrace the art of the "selfie," says Christina Green, a small business, chambers and associations coach whose writing has appeared in the Midwest Society of Association Executives’ Magazine among other places. Green highlighted five types of selfies that have a lot of potential for attracting attention for your business on social media.
First, showing yourself in front of some historic or memorable item that relates to your company can be a great way of engaging your audience. Use an old portrait of the company's founder or some other memorabilia.
Next, take a picture of yourself in front of something that is uniquely you, whether that be your favorite wine, meal or travel location.
A selfie of you and an important person in your business can show your camaraderie and give your co-worker, top client or partner a sense of appreciation.
Have fun with selfies and find a visual way to answer FAQs, which is more interesting for clients than just reading a list of answers.
Finally, a selfie of you, the business owner, with your employees hard at work can give your customers a sneak peek into what goes into your company's day-to-day operations.
Though social media is a relatively recent medium for sharing company info, using it to your advantage can be easy, fun and profitable.
