The plans for the improvements were announced at the annual dinner of the Chamber and included ideas such as a new website, a community calendar and an updated Welcome Center on East Main Street.

McDaniels Marketing has been hired to help with brand development and planning for the Galesburg Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) for the next half-year.

Jessica Liner, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, addressed the decision to use McDaniels.

"McDaniels will offer consultation and planning that will allow us to improve the attractiveness of our destination by assisting us in telling a captivating story both online and offline," Linder said.

The improvements will be made using a three-phase process, which will begin with the CVB's research into the areas of visitor interviews based on their experiences with their trip, travel habits and overall information on what they thought of Galesburg. In addition to this data, stakeholder interviews and in-depth market data will also take place.
