Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), the operator of Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, has received recognition as one of the Civic 50 for the third consecutive year.
The Civic 50 is one of Points of Light's initiatives and is nationally recognized for its standards of companies' time usage, skills and other aspects that improve the quality of life for those who live in the communities where these companies run their businesses.
HCSC has been recognized for its Blue Corps involvement in which it makes financial donations for every volunteer hour contributed through one of its nonprofit partners in the health care field.
HCSC has also been recognized for its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company received a 100 percent rating on their Human Rights Campaign 2017 Corporate Equality Index, which placed them on the map for Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
Healthy Kids, Health Families (HKHF) was another effort in which HCSC was involved. The effort seeks to educate individuals in various communities on how they should approach nutrition, physical activity, disease prevention and management and support of safe environments. HKHF touched the lives of more than 2.5 million children in 2016.
The Civic 50 survey was carried out by True Impact.
