Hologram USANetworks Inc. has partnered with Chicago's Avalon Regal Theater to install hologram technology that will project live performing artists in telepresence.
The Avalon Regal and Hologram USA theater in Los Angeles, will set the trend for full-time hologram theaters in the United States, with 100 theaters to be built nationwide.
The grand opening is slated for Oct. 1, with a show comprised of living and deceased artists.
"If you’re going to make history, why not do it in a historic place," Alki David, CEO and founder of Hologram USANetworks, said in a press release. "Our theaters will be the first permanent theater installation of our patented tech in the U.S., and will support and be supported all of the production and digital distribution capabilities of FilmOn and FOTV -- along with their audience of 100 millions users as month."
The Avalon Regal Theater was constructed in 1927 by John Eberson, who included Middle Eastern architectural features. It has welcomed artists such as Louis Armstrong and James Brown, the release said. The theater's owners have invested $1 million in renovations.
