Katie Spring has joined Edelman's Chicago team as general manager and will be the Midwest leader for the marketing company's financial communications specialty practice.
She joined the team in May and reports to Chicago Chief Operating Officer Kevin Cook, according to PRWeek.
Her responsibilities in her role as Midwest leader of the communications specialty practice include mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, initial public offerings, investor relations and more.
Jeff Zilka left the position Spring is filling to become a senior counselor with the company. He will focus on financial communications, investor relations and strategic transactions, PRWeek said.
Before joining Edelman, Spring worked for Citadel as chief communications officer for nearly 10 years. She also worked as a senior vice president of corporate communications at Citadel and USAA, where she had been an Edelman client. In other professional roles, Spring was a co-founder of Her Estate, a social network.
According to PRWeek, Spring had been renovating a farm in Wisconsin to serve as an events venue, when CEO Richard Edelman approached her with the opportunity.
