The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce recently partnered with the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and other chambers to celebrate Chamber of Commerce Week in Pekin.
Pekin Mayor John McCabe had announced the commemorative week of Sept. 11-15. Other chambers of commerce in Illinois also honored the special recognition of the work and contribution that chambers have on area residents and economic life, according to a press release.
“Chambers of commerce have contributed to the civic and economic life in Illinois for 179 years since the Galena Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1838,” McCabe said in the release. “The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce and its members strive to provide citizens with a vibrant business environment that increases employment, the retail trade and commerce, and industrial growth in order to make the City of Pekin a better place to live.”
