Garage door and home security service providers Chamberlain and LiftMaster, both part of Oak Brook-based Chamberlain Group, recently joined forces to produce enhanced capabilities for Google Home, iPhones and certain Android devices via an integration package combining “MyQ” with Google Home and IFTTT.
Now consumers can link their MyQ accounts to Google Assistant, ask for status updates on their garage accessand open or close garage doors remotely using phrases such as “OK Google, tell MyQ to close the garage door," a LiftMaster release said.
Not only can IFTTT handle opening and closing the overhead garage door, but it can also adjust a home’s thermostat, turn lights on or off and program either function on a regular schedule.
“Google Home and IFTTT support are important steps in delivering the depth and breadth of functionality smart-home users seek,” Cory Sorice, who serves as vice president and general manager for emerging business at Chamberlain Group, sxaid in the release. “We look forward to continuing to expand and innovate with tech leaders and make the connected home a reality for every household.”
