Pima County's Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Department is accepting nominations for its Chuck Catino Community Leadership Award, which will be presented this spring to a community member with outstanding dedication and service as a volunteer.

The award was named after Chuck Catino, a longtime community volunteer and founder of the Born Again Jocks Association (BAJA) Club and the force behind the Green Valley Canoa Preserve Park.

Nominee requirements include being 45 or older; must not be paid for their activities; has exhibited an outstanding dedication that reaches beyond any measure of hours donated; demonstrates exceptional commitment, service, creativity, cooperation or leadership; serves as a role model for others in their community; inspires others to engage in volunteer service; has gone above and beyond the call of duty; thinks outside the box to assist NRPR within their volunteer role; has a great attitude and is positive and friendly; is passionate about their work and collaborates and forms partnerships with others to meet the recreational needs of the community.

Nominations will be accepted through Jan. 26, with the Recreation Commission voting on the nominations on Feb. 9. The award will be presented in March.
