The City of Surprise Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission will host a free bus tour to visit local artist's Joe Tyler's 40-acre home studio property featuring hundreds of his projects.

The tour, which is open to the public, will take place next month and will include traveling by bus to Tyler's home art studio to view his many sculptures.

Tyler is best known for his many large public art sculptures which feature strong botanical influences. His "Learning Tree" sculpture, which is now on display at the Surprises' Northwest Regional Library, features a large welded tree which shades a book and benches decorated with flowers. 

The tour of Tyler's home will take place Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with guests meeting at Surprise City Hall's northeast entrance located at on North Civic Center Plaza. The tour bus will then depart at 10 a.m. for Tyler's studio. 

Participants are asked to pack a brown bag for the picnic-style lunch. Participants should also be sure and wear comfortable shoes as the tour includes walking the large property.
