Illinois-based Citizens Equity First Credit Union (CEFCU) is offering its members access to Mastercard's Masterpass digital wallet, which is accepted at millions of locations online, in-stores and in-app.
Masterpass processes purchases securely online or in-app by using a one-time number instead of a credit of debit card number when shopping.
“CEFCU is excited to be able to add Masterpass to our lineup of digital wallets,” Senior Vice President Denise Ghere said in a press release.
According to CEFCU, members can also use the Masterpass Android app with an Android phone, which runs Kit Kat 4.4 or higher at stores displaying the contactless-enabled symbol. Masterpass users can make purchases by online or through the app or by clicking on "Tap & Pay" with a compatible Android device at merchants accepting the program.
CEFCU, which has nearly $5.8 billion in assets, serves over 327,000 members in 22 Central Illinois member centers and California member centers.
Founded in 1937, CEFCU works to improve the financial well-being of its members which includes employees of over 500 partner companies. CEFCU offers online banking, ATMs, a mobile banking app, eStatements and direct deposit.
