The Cochise County Office of Emergency Services will host a series of disaster preparedness classes this month to train volunteers to assist first responders in the event of a regional disaster.

The CERT course, which will be taught by first responders and trained volunteers, will also help participants learn about fire suppression, medical operations, light search and rescue, psychology and team organization.

The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 13, 20 and 27 at the Salvation Army on East Wilcox Drive in Sierra Vista. The final session will include a course review and final exam exercise.

Space is limited and participants should commit to attending all three sessions. Contact Christian Ramsey at 916-233-6010 to register for the CERT course.
